The Telecommunications Installer-Technician deals with the cabling that is used for video, voice and data or other low voltage signaling. This may include:

  Planning & Initiating Projects

  Telephone Systems

  Fiber Optic Systems

 Fire Alarm Systems

 Nurse Call Systems

 CCTV Systems

 Security Systems

 Data Networks

 Various other Communications and Sound Distribution Systems

 Testing and Repair of Video, Voice, and Data Systems

In order to accomplish these duties, Telecommunications Installer Technicians employ a variety of tools ranging from one-hand and two-handed tools to power tools such as drills and saws. They occasionally operate equipment such as trenchers.

COMPENSATION

During their apprenticeship, apprentices are paid at a graduated rate based upon the number of working hours they have logged.

During their apprenticeship, apprentices are paid a percentage of journeyman scale based upon the number of working hours they have logged.

  • 1 – 1,000 hours 45% 45%
  • 1,001 – 2,000 hours 50% 50%
  • 2,001 – 3,000 hours 60% 60%
  • 3,001 – 4,000 hours 65% 65%
  • 4,001 – 5,000 hours 75% 75%
  • 5,001 – 6,000 hours 80% 80%
